What are the best weed eaters for 2012? Well that depends on who you ask. For example, if you ask someone with a small lawn that uses a trimmer on their lawn twice a month, then they may choose a small, electric powered weed eater. On the other hand, if you ask your local lawn guy, most likely he will name a commercial gas powered unit.
With that in mind, I’ve created my list of the best weed eaters for 2012. I have it separated into different categories and chosen my top trimmers for commercial grade, gas powered, battery operated, and electric. Enjoy.
Commercial Grade:
Shindaiwa T231- I’ve been using this trimmer or a model similar to it for over 10 years. It’s everything you can ask for in a weed eater: powerful, reliable, and easy and comfortable to use. I will give an honorable mention to Stihl products, as it really comes down to user preference between the two. You can’t go wrong with either brand. (Read the full Shindaiwa T231 review)
Gas Powered (Homeowner):
Hitachi CG22EASSLP- This weed eater comes close to measuring up with the two heavy weights listed above, only it costs about $100 less. I’m not sure it could handle the day to day wear and tear, but if you are looking for a heavy duty weed eater for your home, this is my top choice. (Read the full CG22EASSLP review)
Battery Powered:
Black & Decker NST2018- Another quality product from the Black & Decker line of rechargeable power tools. As long as you have a couple of back up batteries and don’t need to trim anything too heavy, this weed eater will get the job done without any problems. (Read the full NST2018 review)
Electric:
Black & Decker ST1000- I’m the least comfortable grading these types of trimmers due to their limited capabilities. But for just $20, it’s tough to argue against this compact, electric trimmer. Keep in mind this unit is intended for light trimming and edging on small lawns. (Read the full ST1000 review)
